Alucro Association Announces the Opening of Entries for the 11th Edition of the Can Art&Design Festival, a Unique Competition Combining Art and Design with a Strong Ecological Message

The competition, open to both professional artists and art enthusiasts, promotes the creative use of aluminum cans, transforming them into genuine works of art and spectacular installations.

The Can Art&Design Festival is an annual initiative that blends art with an ecological message, encouraging recycling and creativity. Over the years, the competition has inspired hundreds of artists and enthusiasts to transform aluminum cans into stunning art pieces, demonstrating that recycling can be both functional and aesthetic.

To date, the initiative by the Alucro Association has shown a strong commitment to promoting the creative reuse of aluminum cans, attracting talented participants from across the country. This year's edition promises to be even more spectacular, expecting innovative and original works that will captivate the audience's imagination.

"Can Art&Design Festival is not just a platform for expressing creativity but also an initiative to raise awareness of the importance of recycling. Aluminum is an infinitely recyclable material, and its use in art projects underscores the need to protect the environment. Through this competition, we aim to inspire the public and participants to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to waste reduction," says Adina Magsi, General Director of Alucro Association.

The competition offers participants the opportunity to register in one of three competitive categories: M Paintings (minimum dimensions 50 x 70 cm), XL Paintings (minimum dimensions 80 x 90 cm), and sculptures or installations (minimum height 100 cm). For all three categories, participants can represent their own idea or create a replica/reinterpretation of a famous work, with the essential material used being aluminum cans.

Registration for the competition is done after the creation of the work, by filling out the form available on the site canartdesignfestival.ro/inscriere, providing a technical and artistic description of the work, accompanied by images of it. The deadline for registration is August 30, 2024.

At the end of the registration period, the works will be analyzed by specialists in visual arts and environmental actions, who will evaluate the proposals based on creativity, technique used, and relevance to the theme of the contest. Winners will be rewarded with prizes totaling 6,000 euros (3 prizes of 500 euros for the M Paintings section; 3 prizes of 700 euros for the XL Paintings section; 3 prizes of 800 euros for the Installations/Sculptures section), as well as the opportunity to have their works exhibited in several cities in Romania as part of a traveling exhibition.

All interested parties are invited to register by August 30, 2024, on the official competition website. Details about the competition categories, schedule, and prizes are available on the competition website www.canartdesignfestival.ro and on associated social media channels: Facebook and Instagram.
