The Frozen Vegetables Market in Romania: Growth and Opportunities
The frozen vegetables market in Romania is on an upward trend, driven by changes in consumer lifestyles. According to a Euromonitor report, the market value of frozen vegetables grew by over 18% between 2020 and 2024, reaching almost €250 million.
A survey conducted by Nielsen shows that more than 60% of Romanians purchase frozen vegetables at least once a month, appreciating their convenience and year-round availability. However, major challenges for producers remain in maintaining quality and ensuring clear labeling regarding the origin of raw materials.
At present, a significant share of the frozen vegetables sold on the Romanian market comes from imports, particularly from Poland and Hungary. Developing local processing centers and short supply chains could enhance the competitiveness of Romanian farmers and strengthen the domestic market.
Thus, frozen vegetables are becoming not only a practical solution for consumers, but also an opportunity for the development of the local agri-food industry.
