Over 10,000 Food Safety Inspections Conducted in Romania’s Non-Animal Food Sector
Veterinary and Food Safety inspectors carried out targeted inspections in the non-animal origin food sector, focusing on food business operators in industries such as milling, bakery and pastry products, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and other food categories.
During the designated period, the County Veterinary and Food Safety Directorates, as well as the Directorate for the Municipality of Bucharest, conducted 10,189 inspections in agri-food industry units. As a result, 94 warnings and 173 contravention sanctions were issued, totaling 1,605,400 lei in fines.

These actions are part of the 2025 Supervision and Control Program of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) and covered the following key areas:
The inspections focused on preventing risks to consumer health while also providing guidance to food industry operators. Sanctions were applied only when deficiencies were not corrected within the given timeframe or when significant food safety risks were identified.

During the inspections, samples were collected for laboratory analysis in line with ANSVSA’s supervision and control protocols. These tests verified the compliance of food products with legal standards, including maximum residue limits for pesticides, contaminants, and other prohibited substances.
